I just today returned from the 7th annual national conference on Girl Bullying and Relational Aggression (as well as a bit of a vacation with my family). It was a tremendous experience and I heard a lot of great information that only reinforces my sense that Girl Smarts is a great program to help strengthen our girls against the girl bullying prevalent in our schools today. I was encouraged to hear that the “experts” are shifting their approach from recommending the bullied child not take a stance against their bullies (something I think is an impossible course of action for our children) to equipping the child with non-physical responses and strategies to make sure they feel able to stand up against those bullying them.
My breakout session (a one hour presentation on Girl Smarts) was very well received and I have people asking me to get the package of workshops exportable so they can start programs at their own locations. Of course, that is part of the plan. I also had a couple of great interviews. One you can watch HERE.
Another interview is slated to be part of a documentary an actor named Adam Korson is producing to highlight solutions to the bullying issues our children are facing today. Adam stars in the hit show “Seed” in Canada and his mom is a retired educator. He wants to put his fame to some good and is producing the documentary through a small breakout production company called 455 Productions. They’re associated with Paramount Pictures in Hollywood. I have no idea when it will be completed or if I’ll even make the “cut” but I’ll keep you posted!
A HUGE shout out to my husband and family who attended the conference with me. They became my support system for the presentation I made and helped make it all possible. Some photos will follow!
